Music Of the Year / 2014

End of year lists: always a chance for everyone to show off. I’ll be honest – the album I’ve listened to most in 2014 is a Noel Coward ‘Best Of’ compilation. Why not? He’s one of the great lyricists of all time. Exhibit A, m’lud:

 

I’ve also found myself revelling in the past via old favourites and new-old discoveries. But I have had a chance to listen to lots of very recent music too, and did some album reviews and interviews for Mojo, Metal Hammer, Prog, The Quietus, Download Festival, V Festival, Wilderness, T In The Park and others. Here are some of my favourite albums and/or tracks of 2014, chosen for various reasons, and in no particular order.
