Dear friends and readers,
My new novel These Darkening Days is published this week.
Inspired by a real case of mass hysteria that occurred in Halifax, West Riding in 1939, it explores themes such as scapegoating, paranoia, the changing role of news media, old myths and new fears, all set against the wider backdrop of a country uncertain of itself.
These Darkening Days follows on from my folk-crime novel Turning Blue, though it can be read as a stand-alone work too. Both novels are to also to be translated in French.
I would encourage interested parties to purchase from book shops if possible. I’ll be showing my face at a few places in September/October too. Details here.
