Dear friends and readers,
News: my novel The Offing is published next week by Bloomsbury Circus. (On the same day my novels Pig Iron and Beastings are being reissued too, with new cover artwork.)
Set over the course of one summer in Robin Hood’s Bay, The Offing explores the friendship between an eccentric older bohemian woman and a young naïve lad from the coalfields of Durham. It’s available wherever you buy books. I favour shops. The Times have reviewed The Offing here.
The Observer have profiled me (and my garden) here.
I’ll be chatting about The Offing on Radio 4’s Open Book with Mariella Frostrup next week. It is also to be Book At Bedtime on Radio 4, beginning August 26th 2019.
And finally, Durham Book Festival have commissioned a short film about the influence of where I grew up on me becoming a writer. You can view it here:
All the best,
Ben
